DENTURE AND PARTIAL DENTURE POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS

  • It takes time to get used to your new denture.
  • It is important for you to wear your partial or denture for as much as possible to get comfortable with them over the next 24-48 hours.
  • The new bite may feel abnormal for several weeks. This may affect your speech and ability to chew, but your lip and tongue will adapt accordingly and you should gain comfort and confidence with time. 
  • Its normal for sore spots to occur within the first 24 hours. Sore spots can be relieved with a follow-up appointment. Please call the office to schedule if this occurs. 
  • When not wearing your partial/denture store in a clear sealable container with water. 
  • Partial/denture can be cleaned with a denture brush or toothbrush with soap and water or toothpaste.
  • After initial 1-2 days, Do not wear partial/denture to bed. It is important to remove them to keep your mouth and gums healthy and clean as well as maintaining the denture long term.
  •  It is still important to maintain proper hygiene and continue to come in for check up and recall appointments as instructed
